Writing by the Water

Writing Journal

Not only is Abbi an artist through dance, but also through writing and other creative outlets. Abbi mostly focuses on fiction and poetry writing but has also written various nonfiction projects over the years. While Abbi currently remains unpublished in the professional industry, she has been published in several school publications in the past and has started to actively submit works for publication as well as beginning to accept clients for freelance editing. Her desire for publication was reignited by her time working with her university's press, Cornerstone Press, where she served as media assistant, press executive assistant, and media director over the span of a two-year period. Take a look below at some of the works Abbi has written over time.

Poetry

Proven

You told me I'd struggle

You told me I'd fail

You told me I didn't have the tools to succeed

But what if instead

I prove that I can

I am not what you think I am

I am a much better version of me

And every day I'll prove to myself

Just how worthy I can be

Deeply

I fall in love so very deeply

I hope that's okay with you

Because every time I fall in love

I give up a part of my soul

And when I feel love returned

I fall even deeper in love

Because I feel safe and free

I choose to give a part of myself

In hopes to get a part of them too

I'm a hopeless romantic it's true

So I hope it's okay with you

That I've fallen so deeply in love with you

What Love Is

Love.

I used to think I knew what it was
Even though I had never experienced it
But I had plenty of friends who had it
And I had so many books and movies tell me about it

It's the holding hands while on walks, right?
Or the quick kisses when nobody's looking?
Or what about the little love notes?
Or gifts of flowers, chocolates, favorite things?

But then
You.

You came along one day
You changed everything I thought I knew about love
You showed me what love really meant
You showed me what it meant to be loved

It's about the gentle warmth of your body against mine
The comfortable silence broken by a simple "I love you"
The ability to be silly, sappy, spicy, and so many things
The teasing and jokes to make me smile
And the knowledge that with you
Everything will be okay

You brought me the greatest love I could ever ask for
And now I get to spend my whole life loving you

Love.

You.

I love you.

The One

You're the one that makes me smile brighter than any other

You're the one who always brings me peace

You're the one who's warmth I always desire

You're the one that makes my eyes light with joy

You're the one I think about first when I wake

You're the one I think about last before I sleep

You're the one I want to dance with in rain or shine

You're the one who makes me the best version of me

You're the one I desire to build a future with

You're the one I can call my home

You're the one I've chosen to give my heart to

And you're the one I'll love until my dying breath
